In March, the NFL announced it intends to sell the national distribution rights of a regular season game this year to an Internet company.
The October game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills will be broadcast on television in those teams’ home markets, however the rest of the country will only be able to watch online. No distributor has been chosen as of yet, but the announcement alone marks a unique point in business history.
A Forbes article quotes panelists of the 2015 CeBIT conference as saying that in the next 5 years, 80 percent of the world’s population will be using smartphones. Which means within that time, 80 percent of the world population will have access to the global digital economy.
